Subject: GVRD replaces both play structures at Terrace Park –Join us for a Ribbon Cutting on Wednesday, July 17th at 4pm.

VALLEJO, CALIFORNIA –GVRD invested over $250,000 in improvements to Terrace Park on Daniels Ave. The State of California Prop. 68 Water Bond Act of 2018 will provide $177,952 of the funding. We believe that upgrading the amenities in our parks will help more people stay active, spend time outdoors, and build stronger relationships with their neighbors.

  • On June 5, 2018, California voters passed Proposition 68 - the $4 billion “Parks, Environment, and Water Bond Act of 2018” Funds were available for local park rehabilitation, creation, and improvement grants to local governments on a per capita basis.
  • Grant recipients were encouraged to utilize awards to rehabilitate existing infrastructure and to address deficiencies in neighborhoods lacking access to the outdoors. Staff chose to use the funding to replace both playgrounds at Terrace Park, which is a GVRD owned property.
  • The 2–5-year-old and 5–12-year-old play structures were replaced and a pour and play surface was added.

GVRD is a separate government agency from the City of Vallejo that provides parks and recreation programs for children, families, and seniors in Vallejo. GVRD operates primarily by means of locally controlled funding and receives revenue from fees for services, park entrances, programs, and facility rentals. Grants and park dedication permit fees assist in the provision for new park development projects and ongoing maintenance.
