GVRD invests over $1 Million into Dan Foley Park to renovate the multi-use synthetic turf playing field – Ribbon Cutting to be held Wednesday, March 20th at 4pm.

VALLEJO, CALIFORNIA –GVRD invested $1.38 million into replacing the multi-sport synthetic field at Dan Foley Park. The improvements to the field were made possible by funds GVRD receives from property tax revenue.

The original field was completed in 2009 and has been in high demand for daily recreation use in addition to the more formal scheduled team training, league play, and competitions. Careful consideration was given to increasing the investment in the park and assuring it meets or exceeds the community needs for the next 10 to 12 years.

To ensure that children and adult athletes could play in a safe and healthy setting, the sports field underwent significant renovations which included the use of an environmentally friendly infill product that is derived from olive cores.

“Vallejo is a city that loves sports and it’s our job to deliver safe, high-quality fields where youth and community members can play,” said General Manager Gabe Lanusse.

 GVRD is a separate government agency from the City of Vallejo that provides parks and recreation programs for children, families, and seniors in Vallejo. GVRD operates primarily by means of locally controlled funding and receives revenue from fees for services, park entrances, programs, and facility rentals. Grants and park dedication permit fees assist in the provision for new park development projects and ongoing maintenance.
